Diesel and Gasoline MPG vs current pump prices

Yea yea, this isn't another "gas vs diesel thread". I am heading out for a trip next week and wanted to get an idea, based upon current fuel prices, what the trip might cost. My diesel is averaging 10mpg so I guess I'm pretty happy about that. I guess Im really unhappy that just last year this same trip cost 1/3 less.. and two years ago was 1/2 the cost of today!

I did a small comparison below, so hopefully anybody else headed out for the weekend might be able to get a quick view of what they'll be spending at current prices... which unfortunately will go up even more the closer we get to Memorial Day....

Average 8mpg going 500 miles takes 63 gallons = 236.25
Average 7mpg going 500 miles takes 71 gallons = 270.00
Average 6mpg going 500 miles takes 83 gallons = 311.25
Average 5mpg going 500 miles takes 100 gallons= 375.00

Average 9mpg going 500 miles takes 56 gallons = 230.00

SO! IN -OTHER WORDS it ain't much diff.it just cost about all we got to purchase fuel to go 500 miles

I think the op was talking about Class As. But if we wanted to we could look at those little Toyota class Cs, they probably get around 20+ MPG.
