Direct TV antennas from 2006

Does anyone have information as to purchasing the old style, SD(Standard Definition) boxes? I have a 2006 Providence with both an in-motion dish and a pop-up Winegard for stationary use.
unfortunately for me, the previous owners did not leave the satellite boxes in the coach.
Thanks in advance!

Not answering your question but it seems these boxes will be in abundant supply as DTV is phasing out SD programming. I just learned about this myself.

I’m in the same boat (somewhat) as we have the standard def box we use, in our just purchased Providence 39L, but not sure for how much longer......

Dish or Direct? The satellite receivers are different.

I see them for sale on Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Here's a VIP 211k for Dish that should work:

https://www.amazon.com/Dish-Network-.../dp/B001D2XOS4

And Solid Signal has them for Direct:
https://www.solidsignal.com/directv-...eceiver-th.asp

However, Direct won't activate a new account without an HD receiver, so it probably does you no good. That's because they are phasing out SD broadcasts anyway. You need to discuss with them whether your older dish can handle the stuff they are broadcasting now. Generally, the satellite dish doesn't know SD from HD - it's the receiver that does the decoding.

Are you looking for actual SD programming, or is it simply that you need coax rather than HDMI wiring for your existing tvs. If your 2006 tv's haven't been upgraded for digital (HD) programming, you need to do that before you worry about satellite.

If your Winegard is an automaric open faced dish it is likely a Sk3005. Which is really old. IF it actually works and you have the control box, turn it on and watch. If it locks on then you can attach any of the older Direct boxes. If you dont have the inside control box, scrap it.

Directv

We have a newer H24 box but have to reset it when we are on our SD portable dish. Watch this video and reset it to 18" round and multi switch. Write your old setting down so you can put it back for HD

X2, H24 will work with any antenna that DTV ever had. SWM and multiswitch. $99. It is, however, an HD receiver so will not have RF output.
