Dirty Business
I have a question that I have thought about for a little while. So here it is... You are traveling, it’s been a Long day and you make it to your RV Park. You are Super tried, it’s pitch black dark, plus it’s pouring rain. If that RV Park gave the option of a Park employee, 100% dealing with your black tank... hooking it up, emptying it, and taking it apart, for X amount of money, say $15 . Would anyone go for it? Tell you what let’s start with me. I think there would be some situations I probably would, namely the situation in this thread, and some situations I probably wouldn’t. Just Wondering

Probably not. Dumping the tanks isn't a big deal and the rain will eventually stop.

No, I don't mind getting a little wet, I would do it myself. I have had this happen, I waited until the rain was light and hooked up.

I wouldn't let anyone mess around in my we bay. Too much to get wrong.
Did they dump the black tank before the grey tank?
Did they close the valves correctly.
Did they try and turn the handles instead of pulling them?
Did they pull them too hard?
Did they know where the dump hose is?
Did they properly hook up the hose instead of only partially? Did that cause effluent to leak into the wet bay?
Did they mess with the water valves?
Nope, just too much that they could get wrong. You can't expect a park employee to be conversant with every setup out there, even with best of intentions, too much to go wrong!

$15, I would pay that in the sunshine with beautiful weather. I hate emptying the tanks, its the only thing I hate about a trailer, it makes me want to gag at the thought of having something accidentally splash on me

no it isn't that big of a deal when arriving. Now if I was headed out and it was 100 plus degrees then maybe.

Well stated! Some RV park employees do appear to know what a dump valve is though.

That was my thought exactly. I’ve seen way too many RVers that just don’t want to mess with it.

Why are you having to dump tanks upon late arrival in the rain at night????
I don't even want somebody to help direct me into a CG site let alone handle dumping of my waste tanks.
Dumping tanks is my quiet time.....I can have a snack and smoke a cig (when I smoked) w/o interruption

I usually dump prior to leaving in the morning. There is never a need for me to dump at night in the rain. Still, I'm not of the mentality to pay someone to do something I'm fully capable of doing.
Speaking of rain, I was helping set up our RV show the other day and it was raining, a light rain. It was a very pleasurable experience to be working in the rain.
