First off I am a resident of Manhattan (NYC) I am out of RVing 7/8 months out of the year an I am on the road 4/5 months a year. Last outing I was on I learned there is a dish tv type antenna I can purchase and pay for tv month to month.
I have called about 20 different numbers dish tv has given me and truthfully having molars pulled without benefit of novacaine would probably be a more pleasurable experience.
I am a NFL fan and want to watch the Giants where ever I am. I could care less about all other tv.
Does anyone know if I can get a package where I can watch the Giants or not? If not I will give up on the idea. This also determines when I leave the city for the winter.
My nearest Camping world is 105 miles and 3 1/2 hours away and they are clueless after waiting 10 minutes for the phone to be answered.
I would really appreciate it if someone is familiar with how this works.

Dish Network has true "Pay-As-You-Go" SAT service.

About the football programming...Dish offers:
NFL Redzone | DISH

If you buy a receiver and antenna (not lease), there would be no extra fees...just buy the program pack(s) you want. Cancel service by not paying the next bill. You can buy equipment from any retail source, but Dish bundles are not bad.

You can add the football pack to any program pack. See:

If all that sounds good, then you must decide on the type antenna (rooftop or portable) and receiver (single or multi-tuner) you want. That's a whole different discussion

Try searching Dish Tailgater... It is a portable satellite system..

I've got Dish and can add another receiver to my home for $7 per month and get the same programing as I do at home (less local channels).. I'm not 100% positive if Dish offers the NFL ticket.. but if they do, you should be able to get it..

Also, if you're a DirectTV fan.. you can get a portable satellite that will pick up their signal as well...

So basically... do a search for portable satellite systems, and figure out which one is best for you... I THINK people usually go with whatever subscription they have at home...

To answer you in one word; NO. The best you can do is watch the NFL RED ZONE when the games are playing. But this only shows the scoring drives of all of the teams.

I have the dish Tailgater with the premium package; but not the NFL Red ZONE channel added. The only time I can watch the "BEARS" is when it is a nationally televise game if I am on the road and away from my local channels.

We bought our Tailgater and Dish receiver from Camping World. Then a call to Dish to set it up and when I want Dish, I go online and pay a month, 15 minutes later we have TV. I only pay for the months I want satelite. Dish offers every package to us that homeowners could get.

Scarab, the link you gave me, satellite tv packages only has 24 month commitment stuff so that does not work for me.
jimcumminsw I think has given me the answer in one word. NO. I can't get what I want. I spent 3/4 hours trying to get answers and I could not get any help. I used one phone and 10 places told me they would call back on my number, none did. I would think if dish offered this service they would advertise it not run from the question. I have no interest in the kardashins or the news.

To get Dish Pay As You Go, you will need 1) a satellite antenna, either portable or roof mounted; 2) a satellite receiver that supports the Dish Pay As You Go service (usually a 211k or 211z receiver; 3) Contact Dish RV support and sign up for the Pay As You Go service. You can buy the antenna and receiver from many sources... Amazon, Ebay, Camping World, or a forum sponsor, TVforMyRV.

I don't know about the football package but here is the information on the available packages from Dish Pay As You Go. Pay As You Go Satellite TV Packages | DISH You only pay for the months that you use the service; there is no contract.

The "regular" prices were on the right column of the Dish.com package link...same prices as listed in Sarah's link. The listed 12 and 24 month specials/discounts come with a contract - N/A for Pay-As-You-Go.

Sorry that this doesn't work for you...but after starting your RV adventures, you might reconsider. Broadcast TV is severly lacking and internet TV requires a high speed connection = large data accounts for 3G/4G, plus subscriptions to most programming.

Just spent another 1/2 hour and can't get a straight answer, every question I ask is answered with another question. I will give up and wait till playoff time to leave.

I have used both Dish and Direct TV in the rv. Direct TV is more expensive but completely worth it over Dish.

You cannot get HD TV from Direct TV unless you have the Winegard Traveller antenna either automatic on the roof or manual on the ground. You can get East coast feeds (In you case local NYC channels) using the DNS package. You can also suspend service for up to 6 months...not as easy as Dish.

I have the Genie installed on my coach and it is the cat's ass. If you are worried about a hundred dollars here or there go Dish.

I would gladly pay $5,000 for equipment and $500 a month to get what I want. I just am not able to make that understood by the "specialists" they have me talk to.
A few more things. I live in a co=op, no antennas on the roof, cable throughout the building, Time Warner, RCN and wireless. I suspend Time Warner when I'm away.

I beg of you. Please stay away from Directv. Long story but customer service is the poorest I have ever seen. I have been in the A/V business since 1979 and try to talk all of my customers out of using them. I had issues with them in the past and it has hurt my credit but I still refuse to pay them what the say I owe them. Anyway, sorry about the rant. I'm just passionate about this cause. Why don't you head to a local bar on Sundays that carry all the games? A lot of them do.

So, the Co-Op prevents using the SAT at the sticks and brickss...no problem if TimeWarner is giving you what you want there.

For the RV...what programming on Time Warner gives you what you want?
You could focus on this aspect of the 2 SAT providers offerings.

One BIG difference between Dish and DirecTV, like said above is Distant Network Service (DNS). That is a DirecTV only (Dish ended it) pack that gives you the NYC and/or SanFrancisco affiliates on the SAT.

Lots of people have DirecTV in their RV's. They are just not as well suited for the RV user who moves around (changing local affiliates) and start and stops the service. These issues can seem to be poor customer service, but just reflecting how DirecTV is not set-up to take care of RV'ers special needs.

Calling sales from both SAT providers will probably be frustrating for very specific desires. They just want to make a sale or up-sell you something. This decision will probably require more research on the customers end.

If money is no object, what you want is Direct TV NFL Sunday ticket. Get a Winguard Traveler for Direct TV and you can watch any NFL game on Sunday including the Giants.

I have Dish on a pay as you go plan and really like it. I think the exclusive relationship between Direct TV and the NFL really sucks, but such is life.
