The method is just fine for getting the "four corner weights" that everyone talks about but cannot get at most scales.

Sounds like you survived the fall just fine, but that sudden stop at the bottom messed you up. Hope you mend quickly, I'm curious how your weighs come out. Kurmudgen's suggestion has been used for decades by TT owners to determine tongue weight . The hard part is to exactly locate the center of the axle above the 1'or 2' mark (your choice) and keep any part of the tire "footprint" off the fulcrum.

Back in the 70's I used to weigh my trailer tongue using this method. Worked great.

Weighed my Rig at my local Dot Weight station in Port Angles WA. "Free" A lot of weight stations leave there scales operating when the scale is closed.

I'm a firm believer that the world is better off populated by folks who let loose thoughts of well-being, so thanks for the concern.

Dumber than dirt, falling off a roof when I couldda prevented it ended up with shoulder, elbo, back, rib and hip problems. I'm only 66, so maybe week or two to get over it. It was only about 7 ft to fall. Meanwhile I'll do some serious meditating about how it could have been prevented, for next time. (Hurricanes coming this year, need to get sealed up soon.)

Two other things of interest are 1- some folks try to come up with helpful advice to answer the original question, and 2- some attack it by offering alternatives. Methinks both have merit in the long run.

just wondering, 1) how far did you drive to get there, 2) were you going nearby anyhow? and 3) what's your mpg?

I get maybe 6mpg, would need to drive 50 miles each way, and the closest scales are in the opposite direction for me.

I think most of us did not buy a rv for the mpg, if we did we would have a elect car instead. Scales are all wihin 10 miles of where i live, if a scale was 50 miles away i would wait until i was going that way. no point!
