Check out Used RVs, Motorhomes, and Consigned sales - PPL Motor Homes they have a lot of consignments on their lot.

My DW is from N. Hadley, MA and when we were up there I looked at some of the motor homes for sale and they were high on their prices.

Good Luck,
Jon

Check out this site...

We bought our coach from a wholesale dealer that now sells to the public. All coaches have the prices posted and you can work from there.

A few years ago we thought of downsizing. All the dealers we talked to would give us 1/2 book value toward their unit which was over book.

Don't give up!! the hunt was a lot of fun and had the same problem with dealers
and the sales people !! how ever i got to drive all the coach's that i thought i would like to own and i learned what was good and bad about most of them
then i started looking on line and found what i wanted and made a crazy low offer
and they took it !! so keep looking and have fun

I spent a LOT of time doing research and looking at motor homes when we bought our last one in Nov 2009. I spent quite a bit of time talking to frogs (used RV dealer sales persons) but found a few princes too. One thing going against you is that the market is picking up and also this time of year is prime selling time. People in the north are tired of winter and they are trying to get a rig for the soon to come RV season.

My suggestions. 1. Check out ebay and set up auto send for rigs similar to what you want. They will send you a bunch. 2. Check out the best dealer web site in the USA, PPL in Houston. They set realistic asking prices and I have never heard a bad word spoken about them. If they have what you want consider flying there. 3. Check out RVtraderonline.com and RVsearch.com for used rigs. 4. And last but certainly not least look at several editions of craigslist. People who really want to sell now will list on a couple of these lists. When you see that happen check it out.

I had a lot of fun shopping. BTW I also found the RVCG CDs which have thousands of motor homes on them to be very helpful for getting specs of all the RVs out there.

We found ours in Florida. A trip from New Mexico to Fla. to pick it up. We packed Linens and our first stop after purchase was a Walmart.

We made a vacation of the trip home stopping in New Orleans and San Antonio. Wish we had planned more time as the trip was beautiful. I will make it again someday.

From what I've read on the internet, Blue Book and NADA listed values are about 2 months behind the current values. The listed values were higher than current last fall. This spring I suspect it swings the other direction.

When I recently shopped around in the general area of the upper Mid West, all dealer prices were way higher than NADA. Additionally, the inventory is rather limited, and they don't even want to talk about lowering the price.

If I would have to fly around all over the country, I might as well pay the higher prices here and be able to test drive a unit before I spend money. I found my MH on the local Craigs List (fall-out of a divorce), and got it for NADA price from a private party.

Porters Rv in Easley SC has a website and are good to deal with. I have purchased from them. Also Tom Johnson in Charlotte, NC great people 2 locations and gave me a great deal on our current coach. They have a website. I have not bought from Lazydays Rv but they are big and prices on thier website seem fair. Watch out for Ebay, GoodSam sites there are scammers out there...Good Luck and remember the search is part of the fun...D
Fansill,

This is a good idea. Shop around on the internet, call with questions, & then go where the deals can be found even if they are in FL. I would think a dealer in Mass doesn't sell as many RVs as those in the south. We bought our AE from Tom Johnson. Service in their Charlotte location has not been good for us. But the one in Marion stood behind their shoddy work.

Be patient, as diesel prices go up, they will have to come down on their prices.

Dave

I live in Illinois but bought in Florida from a private party. Lots of great deals from folks that are giving up RVing because of age or the death of a spouse. I also have visited PPL in Houston and thought their prices were decent and negotiable.

Always watch craigslist. Got my HR Endeavor 40PBT for 65k with three slides and 50k miles. All in good shape, Had to drive a few hundred to get it but it was worth it.

Popcorn mans post reminded me;
Last week a woman posted on escapees.com she needed to sell their MH because her husband was too frail to travel any longer.

Question End of the MONTH

Check back towards the END of the MONTH, and if the inventory did not move try again with a low ball offer.....
