Consider Ourselves Very Lucky

Like Buck2, we go out on our sailboat in the summer for several months. We cruise in one of the most beautiful areas in the world, the San Juan, Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound. We RV mainly in the winter in the south. We also love to go on cruises (haven't been in the last while though).
Yes, retirement is tough to take

My wife and I love to travel in our RV. I have asked Bev if she would like to take a cruise and she tells me if she can't take her own bed and kitchen she is not interested. She just loves her Sleep Number bed.

We've traveled by car to other places to see stage shows or visit friends. Have even stayed in [gasp!] motels now and then. It makes a nice change of pace, and is also more convenient if visiting a big city. And these days, it is often less expensive than taking the RV.

We went to Hawaii in 2006 and stayed with my younger brother. We might do a weekend away to a hotel or lodge every now and then during the off season. Other than that, I travel to 2-3 major cities a year for work and take as much of the family with me as possible based on the timing.

I've flown to NYC to visit family. But now since we have the RV, we stick to either camping trips, months in FL at a senior resort, or trips north to see family in the mountains. I never did like or enjoy staying in hotels and motels.

Well, I retired in 1998, but then went back to work till my wife can retire. She gets 25 days a year vacation and I get a week, but I only work Mon-Thurs so I have a three day weekend every week. I can get the MH set up and the wife and grandson can join me after work and school. Not the best solution but it works for us. It would be even better if we didn't have the grandson but that's not an option!

Just came back from a 8 day cruise and if there was an easier way to get the MH to Grand Cayman, life would be perfect. But we had to go by ship. We enjoy the cruises and trips to Hawaii, but I would rather be on the pavement, driving. Can hardly wait for March and the next trip. Happy New Year to ALL.

My wife and I like to go to Cuba or the Dominican Republic for a couple of weeks at an all inclusive in March/April. Gets the freeze out of the bones and is a great start to Spring.
