Do u have Experience with Dirt Devil 1500

My dirt devil 1500 is toasted. The relay board is fubar (see pic). My options seem to be 1. a new later model 1500, 2 an new older 1500 3 replace the relay board. Money is not the issue. Options 1 and 2 are both different from mine and would require a good bit of change to the mounting location. 3. concerns me in that if I replace the relay I have no idea why it burned out and will be holding my breath waiting for it to burn again. Anyone replaced a relay with good or bad results. All replies are appreciated, knowledgeable replaies are really appreciated.

Hi Stanley- Looking at that photo it does look like that relay did get really hot and that can only be caused by an excessive current draw above the relay rating. That could only be caused by a motor issue and for that reason I would recommend replacing the unit. I really suspect that if you just replace the board you'll be buying a new unit in no time. In my 47 years in the electronics business I have seen diodes over-heat but they will tend to burn a hole in the PC board under the diode. This definitely looks like a major draw through that relay.

OK frank, thanks. 47 years is good enough for me. I'm going with option 2 and get a new old unit.
