Does Government Shutdown Impact Your Travel Plans

This subject came up at lunch yesterday when I was visiting with a friend. Mike and I are nearly full time RV'ers and we do spend a lot of time around the Yellowstone Park (summer). With all the National Parks closed how is that impacting you? Do you normally RV in the State or National parks or do you tend to stay at private RV Parks / Resorts?

In Texas we stay at the State Parks but in Arizona we tend to stay at private RV Parks. Just curious how we are going to find the crowds this winter.

I truly hope this doesn't impact anyone's travel plans but I can imagine it really does.

Safe travels everyone & watch that dang weather

What government shutdown are you taking about? Their pretty much shut down all the time so most of us can't tell one way are the other! But we have no plans to visit any federal parks or facility's any time soon. [moderator edit]

Should not affect us in the least. Our south trip is planned all in private parks.

I've never stayed a state or federal park.

Thankfully we did our Grand Canyon trip last year. We're heading out to the Tucson area but will be staying in county parks (Gilbert Ray campground) and Catalina State Park. Someone posted you can still drive through Saguaro National Park, just no services or welcome center open.
I feel bad for all the foreign tourists who fly in to see our beautiful country and can't see the natural wonders that we have. A lot of them don't understand what's going on.
It's really a shame it has come to this.

We're impacted in a slightly different way. We are due to start our winter volunteer assignment at a National Wildlife Refuge in S Carolina later this month, but that will be delayed until things get back to normal.

Was planning to stay 6 nights in COE park arriving in two weeks. Changed yesterday and made reservation in private park. My nightly rate changed from 10 to 30 nightly. Thanks Mr. Congressman and Senator.

For the short term future, no, but that depends on how long the current government stupidity lasts. Currently, we are still in the process of getting the new Itasca setup for our trips. Trying to make sure we are reasonably balanced and make sure our stuff doesn't slide around when we start and stop.

We were at Lassen National Park in Northern California last week. Glad we got to see it again before shuttering. Lost of folks around here are upset that Pt Reyes National Seashore is closed. It's nearly 80 degrees inland & people want to go to the beaches and commune with the seals.

Does not effect me. We like full hook ups or pump and water trucks that are always on call.

There have been 17 government shut downs since 1977. This is the first time that all National Parks and Monuments have been closed or blocked during a government shut down. The order to shut them down came directly from the White House Budget Office.

Yes it will effect our plans for next year. In two months I have to make my vacation dates. If this Govt shut means there will be another sequester for next year / summer, we will plan not to visit any national parks. This year we planned Mammoth Caves NP.KY. where half the tour were not offered.

We went to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Was the top of the "bucket". We stayed at a private CG.

It was fantastic!!!!
It closed the next day. The exodus from the park and the fed CG was tremendous!

Some folks had traveled from Europe, had spent 1000s, had reservations for a year. Sad.
