Dog House or RV Hump question

Want to redo the doghouse or hump between the drivers and passenger seats in our 2004 Winnebago - a man suggested using Vynil from a marine supply store and sounds like a good idea, has anyone else done this or have pictures? Really need to fix that area of the RV now that our new vinyl flooring is in.
Thanks, Darlene

Darlene, Is this a Ford or Workhorse? It depends on the size of the doghouse. The Ford will be more challenging. I would prefer to stay with carpeting on the doghouse and add a layer of insulation below it. The doghouse may require you to step on it or over it and carpeting is typically the better covering option. Perhaps you might consider having the doghouse re-carpeted. Although the R value of the carpet may not be stellar - it'll probably be somewhat better than vinyl.

IF- you put some kind of vinyl on doghouse, with all the inside and outside corners, unless you hire a pro- it will look like crap. Stay with a low nap- not berber - carpet

My local bed liner shop can color / texture to your taste. They can make wood grain, diamond plate, and various other patterns. Cool stuff!!!

Dog House help for RV

Thank you Driver, Ernie and IRV4FUN - we have a 2004 Winnebago Brave with a Workhorse engine. The man said he would not take off the carpet that is already on is but cover over it with the vinyl (the kind for boats, etc) - but I see what you mean about making it look good. We just had the carpet taken out of the RV and put in vinyl flooring, which I love - but now it makes the doghouse look even worse!! Some people have said they use a water spray bottle with Ritz dye and rub it in to color the carpet a different color - might work on ours while we try to figure out what to do!! Thanks much for your replies, really appreciate it!!
