I don't have the Dometic, but found a lookalike at Canadian Tire here in Canada. $100 less than CW. Paid $149 on sale. 2 seasons and it does every thing it says it will. Ice in less than 10 mins. and you can use bottled/bought water .

Target on sale for $119. These ice makers are made in China and branded with different old known names like Emerson. Save your money on the Dometic pushed at CW.
Now for the good news, I have two of these Emerson ice makers and have had them in full service for almost three years on the one and two on the other. First is in the RV and is on whenever we are there, most weekends and vacations. The other at home. Some people have reported problems with them, but I have had none. Two people bent on happy hours can't out drink it.

I bought mine for $149 on Amazon. I plug it in when we arrive at the campground and use it to replenish the coolers. It makes enough ice to keep our coolers full for the remainder of our stay, typically three and four day stays. I haven't bought a bag of ice in the two years I've had it.

It's on sale at home.woot.com for today only June 2nd, for $80 as a factory refurbished unit. I actually prefer refurbished units, as that means somebody actually tested it (or was supposed to). Woot is also a very good company....bought many things from them, and they are good at returns if you receive a defective unit.

our friends have one for their new 5er and love it...
now we are ice cube purist for our 'after dinner drinks'
so we usually save that ice for other drinks as we are snooty about having Sonic crushed ice in our jack and cokes and we do imbide BEFORE dinner sometimes !!!

I recieved one from Target for Christmas. Decided to try it out in the house for a couple of days and could never get it to do the same thing twice. Did a little research and found the same unit under various names. Mine and many others had alot of bad reviews, I would say be wary of the ones with 9 ice making nipples, the ones with 12 seem to do better. Just my 2 cents.
BTW, mine was branded Emerson

For those planning to buy one for the first time, note that these unit do not keep the ice frozen. They are pretty well insulated though and if the ambient temp is cool enough some ice may last overnight.
We have a plastic bin that we put the ice in and then in the freezer section of our refrigerator and use from that.

We had one...under a different brand namefrom HD...a few years ago. Our first use was an unfair test leaving it outside under the awning in 100+ temps. Under those conditions it would not make and keep more than a half dozen "cubes"...or "tubes". After storing it in the garage for a couple of years, we gave it to a daughter who uses it quite a bit, usually in the house under cooler temp conditions. She is happy with it as a supplement to her fridge ice maker, especially when entertaining. If I could swing it with DW, I would like to have another for our travels. No, DW and I aren't a swinger couple, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

Sounds too good to be true. Lists for $299 at CW & less if on sale. How does it compare to other makes and models?

We got "took" on a Dometic Ice Maker. We only used it for 3 months and it quit. It just quit one day. We had it for 18 months so were told "too bad" by Camping World and that "Dometic wont replace or repair it." Save your money and do as we did this time, buy a cheap one at WalMart.
