It should be 12 volt. Check all the fuses, connections and wires. The magnetic switches can be an issue, too.
If you have a battery charger, you can hook the leads to it and see if it runs. Clip one on and just touch the other lead to the other contact. Red is typically power, black is typically ground.
You can use leads and a battery, too. Same principle.
Mine was messed up when I bought the RV. Tuned out the steps were "tweaked" and bound up. Adjusted the stops (after removing the motor and testing) and they work again.
