DP's NOT to buy??
I've heard we should stay away from the Alphas, but are there other ones we should avoid? We've pretty much narrowed our searches down to Newmar (our top choice), Tiffin, American Coach Eagle, and maybe Monaco, but we're open to other good quality coaches.
We're about a year out before we retire and go full time, so we have time to really do our research. So far, our fav coach has been the 2007 Newmar Dutchstar, model 2024. Any input on year and model?
Appreciate any advice we can get. Thanks in advance!

I think what I have noticed is lots of complaints on newer entry level models, usually with something in build quality or slides.
If you stick to the big names, I think you will be fine with whatever you pick up. Also, you should add winnibago to the list. The Tour is a nice bus in that year range. Solid.
We bought a 2005, and have had zero problems with it. Just look around the thing very carefully! Neglect is it's worse enemy.

Further, post directly in the Newmar owners forum about the Dutchstar, and you will be hugged.

Here is a list that might help you: What RV Manufacturers Are Out Of Business?
Country Coach, is open for service, some parts, but is not back in production as far as I know.

Christy,
Why do they say to stay away from the Alfa's? I own an 07 5er and love it, also the majority of our Alfa owners club have DP and love them. I know that they are no longer made, but most parts are still available. I would check them out and do not arbitrarily discount them without at least checking them out.

CC is designing new coaches with the hope of starting production in 2015. They are presently designing the Magna and Allure. Ron Lee bought the company back last year and they have been increasing their business ever since.
Used CC coaches are very good choices.

Are you thinking of the American Tradition, made under the Fleetwood umbrella group of companies?
