We purchased a water cooler/heater. It is the type that uses a 3 or 5 gallon bottle sitting upright in the bottom of the unit. You can purchase water for $1.00 for 5 gallons. It works great. you always have hot and cold purified water at hand. We carry one spare bottle which gives us about 4 days to find a source to refill when needed.

We also have one of those under sink filters just to take the edge off the tap water if we run into some bad water.
