Exclamation Driving Evaluation

Has anybody here taken the driving evaluation for seniors yet? How long does it take and what does it entail? Await your thoughts on the same.

macksoria, welcome to iRV2.

Each state has different requirements for testing, and they have different requirements and ages for retesting seniors. It might help if you could tell us what state you're interested in.

At age 90, my father in law had to undergo senior testing in PA, and it was essentially like getting your license for the first time. There was a vision test, a written test, and a driving test. He never made it past the written test. He couldn't remember what all the signs meant. I think he was also confused by having to take the test on a computer touch screen.

He's in Arizona (click on his "name" - next page click on personal info tab)
Looks like Arizona is not much different than other states. Renewal goes from every 12 years to every 5 years (in Texas the standard is every 6 years) With ticket/accident history, medical history, opinions from relatives or local police it appears that the state may require a written test - a driving test - or both. Vision is checked at any renewal.

My 87 years young father just passed his test in Scottsdale AZ. and he can hardly see past the hood of his car. The only restrictions they placed on him was he was not to drive at night and not without glasses. Morons!

Unless Fl. has changed in the last 8 years; you can drive while legally blind and never have to take any test unless you have a moving violation.

Oh Oh! Seems it really doesn’t get you anywhere does it? I was hoping they would effectively be able to dissuade my father from driving any more.
