Driving in weather concerns when buying Class A or C

We are looking at buying a Coachmen Leprechaun Class C 32 ft. but wonder about the aerodynamics of the shape over the Cab, being a problem in windy weather and affecting the safety of driving or even when just parked in really bad weather.

We drive in weather we are comfortable with, other than that we get off the road till it calms down. I once drove my bike from Bradenton, FL to Jax, FL in rainy weather that most cars got off the road for. We drive the RV in the 40-60 mph winds that are here in CA a lot. Those are our comfort levels and they are not anyone else's. Figure out what you are comfortable in and stick with that.

If the Coachman meets your criteria, buy it. Worry about the weather when it happens and then establish your own personal weather limits for driving. Don't buy a rig just because it handles heavy rain or 50 mph winds. You will be driving in more nice weather than bad.

We've fulltiming in a Coachmen Leprechaun Class C 32 ft motorhome for 6 years now in most weather conditions. Common sense is what is use. If the weather is to stormy or windy, we stay put until the weather improves. We have not had any problems.

My general rule of thump is that if the weather starts getting bad, whether wind or rain or snow is slow down, and if bad enough, get off the road and wait it out. Better safe than sorry and I've proved it ranging from a mini class C to a 38 foot class A.
