Ok, my rant for the day.
Why is there no standard for dump stations? It seems like every one I go to has a different design, most of which are not designed for ease of use or sanitary operation.
We have stayed at Hollywood Casino in Joliet, IL a few times, their dump station is up on a curb with a grate and one hole for the hose. You can not set the hose in the drain, only in the grate, so everything drains everywhere under the grate, but not in the sewer line hole. It's disgusting. Then you have to hose down the grate (which I do anyway), but you have to wash everything down the sewer. A really stupid design.
This past weekend we were at Alum Creek State Park in Delaware, OH, and their dump station has two sewer drain accesses, but they are covered by diamond plate with a square hole in it to place your sewer hose. There is no way that works if you have a donut angle fitting, you have to remove the angle fitting and just cram the hose down and hold it with your foot. And they only have one flush faucet, so you have to wait til the other guy finishes rinsing before you can do it.
Why is it so difficult to design a dump station that works?

Obviously designed by an engineer who had never seen an RV.
I'll add a little rand about RV park sewer locations , WHAT were they thinking,

Brand new section at Fairmont Hot springs ( Canadian Version ) 70' long sites, paved , the whole 9 yards ( including the price ) sewer dump, power & water, is 45' from where you park , and 2' uphill. Had a coupon for 2 nights in the " New " sites, went back to the office and traded it for 3 nights in the old section.

It took over 30 years to standardize the size of license plates, and now you want standard dumps? Just kidding.

Yeah I know, but wouldn't you think there would be some sort of universal code that dictates design, if not for ease of operation, then safety? I mean, I can't even erect a fence on my property ( village, not HOA) without getting a permit and forget about asking for a variance, you have to be a rich lawyer for that to get approved. Yet there seems to be no basic code requirement for dump stations. Or else people are ignoring the codes and building them as they see fit.

If you go to the Joliet city officials, they might be happy to enact new local codes for this, and perhaps retroactively enforceable.

Then, they would have stuff to do so that contractors could have stuff to do so that you would have less trouble with your stuff.

Just sayin....

Here's a photo of the dump station at Hollywood casino Joliet. I understand why they put in the curb: because the sewer drain is located in a low spot. Notice the standing water from the rain overnight. (NOT FROM MY RV!!!)

EDIT: I have no clue why this photo is upside down, maybe someone can explain?

I'm currently sitting at a casino in Washington and the dump station is on a down hill part of the lot.I mean it points the rv down the hill amd that leaves 1/3 of the junk in the tank.

For this to be a problem, your cognitive may be lacking, and something like changing out your battery's must be impossible.

However, I applaud you for admitting this is a rant!
