Dumping Fee

Wondering what most places charge to dump? I don't use dumping stations very often, usually have full hookups but this weekend I didn't. Stopped at the KOA on I-77 and the dumping fee for non-campers was $20! Before I got there I was guessing it would probably be $10. From the looks of the campground I wouldn't pay $20 to camp there, but I didn't have any good options so I paid the dumping fee and emptied the tanks.

Only time I ever paid to dump was in a Southern OR campground...stayed the night in an Elec/Water only site and wanted to dump before hitting the road. They charged $15 to dump.

I didn't ask what was the dump fee if I hadn't stayed the night, but I bet it would have been more $$.

In my experience most of the places charge between $ 10 and $ 20, if you do not stay there.

Flying J used to be free so I dumped when I bought gas.
I bought a lot of gas there; . I always thought they made out pretty good; then they began charging, now I don't buy so much gas there. now I shop for the least expensive; I eather dump at the campground or wait till I get home.

Never been to a place that charged for dumping if you stayed the night, even in a non-hookup site. Bottom line is they don't really want off the road business, so they charge what they feel they can. Also, it may have something to do with how tidy off the road customers have been. In VT, there used to be dumping stations in all the staffed rest areas. Now they are all closed due to mis-use. As an aside,Staffed Vt rest areas do have decent WiFi.

I have paid twice, once was 5 bucks (Pilot Marshall MI) the other was 7.50 but we also showered. (Campground in/near Darien GA.

Planned on possibly parking there but after talking to the woman on duty... parked elsewhere (3 mies farther from our daughter's house) and I loved that spot. We will return there. (The good spot: Cathead Creek Ranch RV park).

Do you know how to spell P-I-L-O-T?

I've never been charged where I've paid to camp either. I don't think they would remain on my "Preferred Campgrounds" list.

Since we boondock a fair amount, we have to dump our tanks at fee dump stations. One of them charges $5.00 and the other is a gas station that is free if you pruchase fuel from them. If you do not purchase fuel then the charge is $10.00.

I have seen fees for use of commercial campground dump stations for non overnight customers ranging from $5.00 to $50.00 (high end resort that did not want "outsiders" but was forced to as condition of their waste permit). Most are in the $10-$20 range in the areas we travel most.

My local RV park charges $7.50 to dump. Texas used to have many free dumps at rest stops. Most, if not all, are now closed due to the mess we left them to clean up.

We stayed at a casino RV place in Washington, and were within eyeshot of the dump station and was amazed at the rigs that came in and circled the park then stopped to dump and went on thier way.
The lot was uncontroled as are most of the casinos, honesty system.

The most Ive paid is $10. Local its between $5 and $7.50.
Remember when the pilots were free. Line used to back up for miles after a big event. Glad they started charging... now folks drive on by unless they have a customer card

Oregon state parks charge $5. Free if you are staying. Many rest areas in Washington and Oregon have dump stations that are free.
