Question Dusty Windows in Alpha

Not sure if this is the right forum but I have slide windows in my Alfa and living in the desert the tracks have gotten a lot of fine dust into them and I decided this weekend would be a good time to clean them out. I cover the windows with foil bubble warp on the inside and they stay closed most of the year. I have been using a shop vacuum and tooth brush to loosen the dirt.

Question is do you use any kind of lubricant in the bottom of the track?

New question. How do you remove the screen or sliding window? Gasket in the corner of the window has pulled loose and should be able to snap it back into place if I could remove the screen. Anyone have a web site that has a how to on this type of window?

Thanks Paul

Found a diferent brand and poped the screen off and the gasket is a bit for looks the glass is sealed to the outside edge so I got it back into place a bit. Found the brand name on the handle Kinro.

Blue:

Most of those screens pop out by pushing the frame up or to one side and then swinging the opposite side out. Then you ought to be able to stretch the screen fabric and reset the gasket (spline). Though you can use a screw driver to push the gasket back in, a spline tool works better. It has a roller with a groove that makes the job easier and less likely to puncture or tear the fabric.

Once you get the track clean, you will not need any lubrication. It would just collect dirt anyway.

To answer your question about which forum to use for your questions, return to the main forum page. There you will see that there are various forums for various questions. You originally posted to the forum for people that own Alpine Coaches, made by Western RV. Your post would better in the General Discussion forum (to where a moderator moved it). Based on your number of postings (showing some experience here), I suspect that like several other Alfa owners, you may have thought that Alpines were related to Alfas.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to get the trim/gasket around the window back in not the screen. The site I found told the same way to remove the screen also that you "might" have to flex the frame to get it out but don't bend it.

I thought I had put it in RV Systems & Appliances but who knew. And us Alfa owners are orphans along with Teton owners but I have heard from a friend that several former employees bought the left over parts and are selling them, not sure how to get in contact with them.

Thanks Paul
