Earning Your State Stickers

Sooooo...what's the rule of thumb here to earn a state sticker? What's the general criteria?

Travel through the state in your MH?
Stop somewhere in the state? (Rest Stop, gas station, Etc.)
Stop for something unique to that state? (Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater, Geyser, State or Federal Park, Etc.?)
Stay overnight?

I need some rules here so I know when I'm allowed to put up a new state sticker. Your help is appreciated.

Thanks!

That is your own personal criteria to determine. For me it seeing, doing or experiencing something in the state that is memorable. Staying overnight is not a criteria as some states are small. Drive thru's would be like taking a Greyhound Bus and do not meet my criteria. While in the military, I have been to Alaska twice - that is I have seen the airport terminal during refueling during snow storms, but I have not seen or experienced Alaska.

For Thom and I it is if we stepped in it / drove thru it / stopped in it / slept in it. As long as we went past the state sign we count it.

As long as you and whom ever you are traveling with agree on what counts as a sticker you are good.

The official procedure is:

1) You must stop as soon as practicable at an official State Welcome Station and buy some kind of tacky souvenir.
2) Scratch a nearby tree while scuffing the ground with your shoes.
3) Spin around three times while singing the appropriate State Song.

These are the rules as promulgated by the N.C.F.S.M.R.

That's the great thing about RVing, you get to make your own rules on a lot of things.

If we enter a state with our MH, we have been there. We only count what we have been to in the MH. In my college years I drove trucks during the summer, those states don't count for me.

For me, I determine if the state voted correctly in the last presidential election - you know, like I did.

I ain't countin' no dern state that can't vote right!

Then when I do apply a sticker for a state, I only use one specific color for all of those stickers!

Any criteria will work however, if you happen to get stopped by the state sticker police, they'll require you to provide proof of an overnight stay or you'll have to remove the sticker.

They've also been known to check to see if you've removed the tags from your mattresses, pillows and seat cushions.

We've been to them all and are returning because the DW wanted to visit all of the State capitol buildings. Some we missed the first time Some we missed several times! Only 18 more to go. Can't quite determine if the cost of getting the MH to Hawaii is worth it! Gotta get another one of those sticker Maps since we filled up the first one. The DW got a book at one of the Capitol buildings that each stamp with a date when we visit, but when in St Paul after our visit someone broke the window out of the dinghy and stole her purse with the book in it. Dang Minnesotans!

We don't do the stickers....
Just keep a scrap book in our minds eye

But I always thought it was wherever I stopped long enough to buy a baseball cap of the place !!!

When we went to the Grand Canyon back when we purchased the RV I bought the book to get the stamps for all the federal/national parks/monuments. The stamps not only have the date but also a picture of the place.

If I stop and pee in the state, then it gets the sticker.
