we have a 2014 Coachmen Mirada...the electric steps will not retract with the battery disconnect in the off position for storage....all other features regarding steps work as they should....any ideas???

While on the inside turn the step switch on so it will retract when the door is closed. Close the door, turn the disconnect switch to off and then exit the coach. The steps will be retracted until you reenergize the battery bank.

The method by RV Wizard does not work on our 2014 Mirada. The steps will move out. May work with other RVs...

Here's how we do it:
Set the step switch so the steps will retract when you close the door. (Leave the battery energized) Exit the RV, close the door PART WAY until the steps retract - but leave enough room for you to reach in the partially open door - THEN rotate the battery disconnect switch to off. Close the door the rest of the way. Steps will stay retracted. Only way to keep our steps retracted with our 2014 Mirada for storage, any other method - i.e. disconnecting the battery prior to exiting, etc. will leave the steps out.

I believe this may be a new safety feature - it is practically impossible to not have the stairs come out when you open the door. Only way I have found (barring the method above) is to disconnect BOTH the house and chassis batteries - which is impractical. Just disconnecting the house battery will not prevent the stairs from coming out when you open the door. At least you never have to worry about that long step LOL! I wish I could get a wiring diagram for the coach because it appears the steps get control and operational power from both batteries.
