I'm sure everyone has encountered at least one of these in their RV experiences. So I thought it might be fun to immortalize them by posting a picture for all to enjoy. Here's one for starters.

Hope you don't have anything large to store in the middle overhead compartment on this trailer. Its door is blocked by the light fixture, thus, limiting its usefulness.

I recently read that very few RV manufacturers employ RV design engineers. Most out-source RV design, to companies that never see the finished product. The most glaring example is loading axles, springs, and tires to the maximum, as standard procedure. We all know that a 20% safety factor for towing is standard, well, the Tire and Rubber Industry say that 20% safety factor also applies to tire loading.

Fan was on high speed and got the door several times before I let go. Quite a start.

Thankfully nothing was harmed except the marks and the door and no one hurt.

They all dropped the ball, the installer, inspector and the designer, he missed by a full 4”, not sure if it’s the width of door, length of the blade or placement of the fan but he had 3 chances to get it right.
Door on right shows chain that was forgotten.

Hate to admit it, but that last one strikes too close to home. I got this bright idea to put a small ceiling fan in the laundry room at home. The installation went smoothly and everything worked great UNTIL I opened one of the cabinet doors!

WHAM, WHAM, WHAM.

So, not even a mechanical engineer gets it right every time.

On Edit: I thought about cutting clearance notches in the cabinet doors for the fan blades, but for some reason Sandy wouldn't buy off on that brilliant idea.

I had to deal with an architech that didn't care if it worked proprely as long as it was centered on something and looked good.She could not add and wanted four three foot windows in a 11' wall.

The goofs on mine are trivial compared to some of those above. Light switch in the bedroom several feet from the door - you have to fumble around in the dark for the light switch. I asked and they said "there wasn't room by the door". Duh - if you ""designed" it, there would have been room.

Also, no silverware drawer in the galley. No place at all for it. Same answer - no room. But they made room for two pull-out pantries so we could store plenty of canned and boxed foods. Just couldn't eat it except with our fingers! Duh! I ended up custom building a silverware tray in one of the dish cabinets.

The light in the RV bathroom is in the far left corner,its a double switch,the other is for the pump. You have lean over toilet and sink vanity to reach it.

That's the next project is to move switch closer to door,and cover pump switch and leave it there.When we are hooked up I have a night light in there,then you can see the switch. Rick & Robin

Our 07 Allegro Open Road doesn't have a single outside storage bay that will fit a standard lawn chair! I never gave that much thought before I bought it.

I'm on the fence for this "Engineering Marvel" shown below. While I can see the convenience and advantage of being able to access "the facilities" without having to track through the RV to get to them, it also "opens the door" (so to speak) for an embarrassing situation should you forget to lock the outside door and someone outside unwittingly opens it to come in.

This is the same reason I would never buy an RV with a "mid-ship" bathroom unless there is only one door for accessing the bathroom.

And, I have to wonder what you need the screen door for? Would you EVER leave the outer door open?

When an OEM orders RV doors it's an entire assembly including the screen door. Not sure, but I doubt there are any RV doors available without a screen door.
