Eternabond question

I think this would be the right place to ask. I have a Winnebago Class C. I am thinking of using Eternabond on the seams on the roof. QUESTION: it is best to take off the current sealant (I guess it is Dicor) first? And if so, is that a difficult prospect? I was think of only the outer seams but I guess around all the vents, a/c, etc. would also be good.

Advice?

I used it over the Dicor, after cleaning the surface where I wanted to apply it. 3 years, no leaks.

It is best to have a smooth, clean surface for the tape. If the old caulk is loose, full of dirty cracks, or just plain bumpy, I would try to remove as much as practical. A powered oscillating blade is the easiest tool. Harbor Freight has them for as little as $20.

The Eternabond video library should answer most any question concerning use and application asked.

Eternabond is great stuff! Just be sure to seal the edges of it with Dicor 502LSW or some other good self-leveling sealant!

If it's such great stuff then why the need to seal it with dicor? Might just as well glue a piece of rubber down with dicor, save some money.

That is kind of what I thought too. Isn't the tape supposed to be able to seal it's own edges without the aid of yet another product?

As long as you're putting it over a flat surface it would probably never be a problem. If you're putting it over old caulking it will definitely be a problem over time! JMHO!
