You mean a week isn't 7 Sundays?

Congratulations!! I've retired three times. Last time, I got it right -- I didn't go back!

Good going....

Save a spot for me...(got 503 work days left)

Asked my boss a year ago if we do exit interviews here? He didn't have a clue I take that as a no! I guess I'll just have to sneak out...

Isn't it wild how a watch quickly becomes superfluous! I never believed it & was thrilled when a client gave me a beautiful watch as a retirement gift. It's in a safety deposit box along with 3 or 4 others.

A couple of posts about the watch and what day of the week it is are interesting activities. What time is it and what day of the week is it are two questions asked by the state sponsored doctor (NY and FLA) to determine if a person should be living in a skilled nursing facility (nursing home). When my mother and MIL were asked these questions, I was surprised. For me, I did not know the answer. I had no watch and knowing what day of the week it is just doesn't get to the top of my priority list. Fortunately, if asked I could answer the other questions. If asked, I still can't answer these questions and I plan to keep it that way.

Thanks for all the well wishes. It's the end of day two and I'm still pinching myself to make sure it isn't just a dream.

Got your internal clock adjusted so you can sleep past 6? Once I make the last payment on the truck this summer, I will join you for a coffee.

I have been meaning to ask and hope it is not to late ...... what is an Exit Interview ?
After years of employment I am confident you are aware of where the exit it located.

Beware the face pain! The first week I found my cheeks and eyes would be sore as if I had been squinting in the sun all day long. I had not been outside that much and could not understand what it was until I finally realized that is was just some cramping from muscles that had not seen that much use before.
Do not be afraid though, after about a week your face will get used to smiling that much ALL THE TIME and it will not hurt anymore!!

An exit interview? I would be interested in knowing what questions they asked. I am retiring in a few months myself, but I don't think my company does an exit interview. Is this common?

The theory, or one of them, behind an exit interview is it gives the employer a chance to get a no holds bared critique from the person leaving. It also gives the retiree the chance to get stuff off his chest with absolutely no fear of repercussions. I have seen them be very constructive on both sides as well as a full blown bitch session with a Kiss My ... At the end. In my experience most places allow for it, some even mandate it, but then again if you failed to show what could they do. On your big day you should do what makes you feel the best as you walk off into the sunset, and that is the high road for me.
