Expensive Aviva MoHo insurance in Ontario

We have had Aviva Insurance on our MoHo in Ontario for around 7 years now. They seem to be popular in Ontario and are at all the Trade shows and RV dealers. When it came time to insure our new MoHo I was shocked at the price increase. My broker said Aviva was they only company they dealt with for MoHo insurance. One morning’s work on the phone and internet found exactly the same insurance package at over 20% cheaper at another company. I went back with the quote to my broker and they apologized saying they also deal with this company and thought they only insured travel and 5th wheel trailers. Only recently have also started to insure MoHos. Two free tanks of gas.

We are insured through Echelon through a great broker J and A Insurance. They were cheaper than anything else we found, including Wayfarer.

We had a claim and while the adjuster was clearly over her head and slow, they paid in reasonable amount of time and went along with my unorthodox (but practical and best for my family) plan to return 7 people and a motorhome amount of contents from southern NY state back to Ontario and paid out.

The broker was excellent and raised a bit of hell when they were being slow (Bob Tiffin had called me back before the 'emergency' adjuster called me back!). Got an apology from the adjuster and went fine from there.

That's the company we ended up with. I thought that was what brokers were supposed to do for their clients.

Same story here. Was with Aviva Elite, they charged $300 + 1% of value. And yes Echelon is about 20% less. Pays to shop....

I'm glad that you have had such positive experiences with your insurance brokers that that forms your high opinion! My experiences have always been considerably less customer-focussed than that.
