I looked at an older country coach that the battery had exploded related to winter storage in freezing weather. I didn't catch the details but basically the battery froze? Anyway it pelted the outside of the coach and window with acid and damaged the window coating. I wasn't interested in it for other reasons so I didn't investigate what else may have been damaged.

A fully charged lead-acid battery won't freeze until -92ºF, at only 40% SOC it can freeze at -16ºF.

It was in Detroit. It gets -92* doesn't it? like I said that was the reason I was provided as to what happened to the window and side of the coach.
