Extended service plans

Any suggestions for an extended service warranty. We were looking at RV Elite+ or Good Sams. Your comments are appreciated.

We used RV Care on our first RV . We traded it for a MH and then got money back after we canceled our policy.

I have cornerstone premium, I thought about canceling to save money, and almost did, then the next week I had the air conditioner and the intel box (rv Brain) go out. The repairs over this last 6 months has paid for the policy. I am so glad I didn't cancel, better safe than sorry.

Are you asking if its worth it or which company gives you the best bang for your buck?

I have cornerstone -premium , I have had several claims, they pay without a complaint. A lot depends on the service department and how much experience they have with warranty companies.

Two friends have Cornerstone policies and both are very pleased. They have paid substantial claims without a whimper. Neither of them has a new coach either - one is a 2004 and the other a 2007, both with plenty of miles and fulltimer usage.

We're Happy

When we bought our 1st MH last year we upgraded our Platinum Policy we had on our TT to our new coach. The company is XtraRide and we have had the step motor assembly replaced, a leveler jack motor gearbox replaced, and had major repairs to the Cummins engine fuel system. So far all has been covered except our $ 75.00 deductible and the repairs have exceeded the cost of the policy and we have over 4 years left. I can't speak about the others but I would definitely get a quote from XtraRide.

We have GS's and have good service with them on several claims over a three year period. I am pretty comfortable with the condition of the motor home after three years and am considering no policy and a cash reserve. The premium is $2,200/year and I believe my repairs that would be covered will not exceed that much, considering I have $500 deductible.

One major repair could pay for the policy. Think of it as an insurance policy.

We have Cornerstone Premium policy. They are pretty good about paying as long as the service department personnel are experienced at dealing with extended warranties, and of course you must oversee the process as they try to weasel out of paying for things they are responsible for. As far as Good Sam, I have heard many horror stories from a lot of people. I would stay as far away from Good Sam anything. You can get discounts on campgrounds with AAA or AARP, or a military discount that are equal or surpasses the Good Sam discount.

Extended service plans

I'd recommend that you get at least three quotes and look very closely at each type of policy and exactly what is covered and/or what is not covered.

I'd also recommend that you include Wholesale Warranties as one of those companies. They are an iRV2 supporter.

I compared the Wholesale Warranties contract to Camping World/Good Sam. You may find what I'd did. JMHO, I found that Camping World/Good Sam was far more expensive without far more coverage.

I think you may want to also think about having a more neutral tie to Camping World/Good Sam and be allowed to utilize any certified RV service. You may find that not all Camping World service is the same. They are all independent. Also, many have found that their pricing is not competitive.

Just some thoughts to consider before making your choice.

Another vote for Cornerstone. Mine has paid for itself in the first 16 months of ownership and the shops tell me they are very accommodating.
