Well if you buy on and never use it yo will think it is a waste of money. If you have a major breakdown it will be money well spent. If you are a handyman and can fix things yourself maybe you wont need one. I have had three motorhomes and bought one. Peace of mind plays into it too. There are those who would say take the cost of the policy and invest it. I have a 2012 American Revolution and I bought one.

Hi Jake

I have had my DSDP for 5 years and have not had any major problems (I guess I just jinxed myself). The money I would have used on the policy I banked, and if I never need it. I'm ahead of the game. If I need it I will have some of the money I need for the repair.

It's like buying a disabilty insurance policy on yourself. Nice if you need it. A waste of money if you don't.

Good luck with your decision, and Happy Trails!!!

If you do:

1. Insist on all prior service records on every mechanical part in the rig.

2. Get the service schedule on every mechanical part and follow it religiously!

3. Keep and document every service you perform or have performed, keep all receipts, notes, ect...

Trust me, these things will save the day if you ever have a claim.
Helped save me from having to pay over $3000 on a repair because the company claimed it was not serviced PRIOR to my owning the rig!

They paid up!

BTW, I really think the claims agents are trained to say no hoping you will go away. Be persistent if you ever have a claim.

Yep, but in my DW's case the disability insurance has paid off big time! Almost three years of being off work now and still collecting 60% of her working wage.
But I don't buy service policies on vehicles anymore. Have bought three in my lifetime, never used them at all. One we got all our money back, dealer was surprised as he had never had anyone use that clause.

Father in law was an actuary for a large insurance company. He claimed most people were over insured (insurance poor). Pick your insurance carefully.

I suggest that you might benefit from reading this article about choosing an extended warranty plan and when to do so.

I just bought a policy from Wholesale Warranty, an iRV2 sponsor. RV Extended Warranty Coverage, RV Warranty Specialists - Wholesale Warranties for RV Repair I worked with Stephen Motz

You have to decide what works for you, buy one if you want the protection, don't buy one if you can handle the expenses as they come along.

My 1st policy just expired, I recouped about 4 times in benefits vs. what I paid for the policy.

This is just my experience and opinion, your opinion may be different.
