Extended Warranty

Thinking of buying and EW on my 2004 DSDP and wanted your input... In checking out the EW program my findings are that Good Sam is way too expensive on my particular MH. Received what I believe to be a very fair quote from a "Allegiance" home of CSI Care. They indicate that the Obligor is Autoguard Advantage Corporation out of Dublin, Ohio. They are also the Administrator. They indicate that the agreement is insured by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida which they give the address and phone number for. It is an exclusionary policy which lists all they do not cover rather than what they do cover. My question is does anyone have any expierence with any of the above companies if so what do you think. I know there are different opinions about the wisdom of purchasing such a warrenty but thats is not my question. My coach is a 2004 diesel pusher with 56000 miles which I purchased new. Have not had any problems but with the age and mileage figured if Im to keep it a few more years the peace of mind would be worth the $$$. Asking for any input. Please advise.... Thanks in advance.... Don

I recently started a thread on CSI. Do a search and you'll see it.

Thanks clifftal,
I went to your thread and read many of the replies but they didnt really answer my questions. I dont need advice on whether or not to buy and EW but am asking for any feed back on the companies that are listed. A warrenty is only as good as the administartor or responsible party. Thanks again and hope anyone who has had expierence with any of the parties listed in my origional post will speak up.....Don

Good Sam paid over $7000.00 my first year (last year) for pump & injectors on my 2004 Cat engine. I paid $500 deductible & assorted fees such as recycle that were not covered. To me Good Sam paid for its self.

This article may be helpful, but remember it was written by a competitor for selfish reasons. And ACC Waranty, who did the article, is no pillar of ethics themselves - they reneged on a friend of mine's policy and refunded his premium rather than pay for an $8000 repair.

RV WARRANTY and RV Extended Warranty by The ACC RV Warranty Group: Who Is Allegiance - CSI Care RV Warranty -- DSC - Dimension - Freedom Roads - NASC - Reviews of Allegiance CSI Care Warranty

I find quite a few online agents selling the CSI Warranty, but that probably only means they pay top commissions. The combination of low cost premiums and big commissions perhaps doesn't leave much to actually pay for repairs? I dunno - I have no experience with them myself.

Hi Don,
Yes you said your question was NOT to buy or not to buy, but where to buy.

Read the many comments about problems with extended warranties in the RV magazines. I have a 99 Alpine DP with 74,000 miles. I bought it used 12-09 with 52,000 miles. Yes, I have made some repairs, but none that would have been covered with an EW. The last thing I am interested in purchasing is an EW.... There are far to many loop holes. You looked at Good Sam, I did to, what a joke. There are far to many exclusions for me. Example; Engine gets hot, warps the block and head. $20,000 job. It was caused by a broken fan belt. Now fan belts are not covered so your engine damage is not covered..Sorry Charlie...an EW is basically an insurance policy, be assured its all in their favor, just like a casino, they do not pay the electric bill with money they lost. For me, If I want peace of mind, I will keep my $$ in my pocket until I have to pay the repair bill. There is no free ride.. I bought a used 18 wheeler in 1985, I drove it for 24 years and 3,145,000 miles with out a warranty, and would do it again.

Before you spend all your $$, think real hard about the repairs that you have made on your coach since it was new.... Now read your proposed EW real close, now, how much of this would the EW have covered...

Thats problably not the information you asked for, just an old fart with an opinion, happy travels, the old trucker.
