extended warranty help
We are picking up our 2014 Tiffin Phaeton on 2/24/17 and are totally confused on purchasing an extended warranty. The dealership sells USA Travel Care. Any good or not so good reviews of them or Wholesale Warranties would be appreciated. Thank You.

Put your money into a special fund and contribute to it regularly. Then if or when you need a repair you'll have the money. When you stop RVing that money will be yours.

Since this is your first post, you are likely not aware of the many discussions regarding extended warranties. These are not really warranties, but insurance policies from third parties that have nothing to do with the basic products. There are lots of opinions both pro and con, and these can be read by using the SEARCH function in the tool bar at the top of the page. Just enter "extended warranties" and you will find lots of information and opinions.

We've got an extended warranty (service contract) thru U.S.A. Travel Care - and have been happy with it. Here's a link to a more detailed write-up I posted in another thread on this topic. My post is #5 in the thread.....

Nice that people give constructive help and not smart aleck replies to help no one. I bought a extended warranty being that it was our 1st purchase ever of a TT. We had MH's in the past that were well used. So I might have wasted my money but time will tell. I just wanted piece of mind. Hope I never have to use it like other insurance but hopefully it will be good when we need it. Like all things people have opinions. Wish you luck on your new RV.

extended warrenty
We have had EW with wholesale warrenties and have been pleased to have the peace of mind of not having to worry about catastrophic losses. Have not gotten my money back form the last one but still satisfied with the purchase. Its like any other insurance policy. You buy it hoping to never have to use it....

My current policy is thru Wholesale Warranties and I am very happy with the policy and the dealings with Wholesale Warranties.

Be aware the Wholesale Warranties is the sales agent, not the actual insurer, so the policies they offer can and will vary. USA Travel Care is part of American Guardian, the actual insurer, but they still have multiple policy types with different terms.
The base question is whether you want an extended warranty policy at all, and opinions differ (sometimes emotionally so!). They all have in common that they do NOT cover many things, despite the glowing promises, and you have to read & understand the policy carefully. You can be sure that anything the policy says about the required procedures, or "items not covered" will be rigorously enforced - no slack at all. Rarely will any repair be 100% covered either - there always seems to be charges that is not covered for some reason or another.
Read the numerous previous posts about these repair service policies and make your own call.

If you buy it and don't need it it will be a waste. If you need it and don't buy it you'll wish you had. The key is a reputable warranty company with good reviews and an exclusive policy that spells out what is not covered vs one that only spells out the exact items that are covered.

Extended Service Contract
Just got off the phone with Wholesale Warranties and they now offer their own "Service Contract" called Viking. Like many others we are also shopping. From reading all the responses on this forum we are looking for key terms such as "Exclusionary and Consequential" . Not promoting this company but at the end of the day cost of coverage is important.
We just like a peace of mind. Shop around.

First thing is that you do not have to purchase an extended warranty from the dealer. Warranties sold by the dealer is a straight cash cow for the dealer, they make a lot of $$ for doing nothing.
It is best to buy on the secondary market after you have had time to look at what each one offers

I purchased a USA Travel Care warranty with our motor home.
Advice on how one should spend their money aside, I have been very pleased with their service.
I recently took it to the shop for repair of a leak on the leveling system. The $2500 repair (required hydraulic pump and reservoir replacement) cost me only the deductible. No questions, issues or problems. All went quick and easy.
Feedback from others with USA has also been positive.

You may want to get a quote from Coach-Net. I have used them and am pleased with the service. Road side is included in the service contract.

We started in 09 when we bought our Journey Open Range. We did not get the warranty right away, but on our way home from the dealership, I called and bought the warranty. Through XtraRide, through your dealer. It paid for its self in the seven years we've had it. All that bouncing around while traveling, something will go wrong. I thing it's a good idea also if you want to put money aside for those repairs and you might have some to start your following year that's good too. And yes warranty do give you money back if you don't use it for the length of the warranty. But I don't think that will happen. So that's why we have it. Sorry if I was long. Jrgal.
