Extended Warranty on used RV private sale

I see many threads when I search extended warranty but I did not see anything regarding my specific question.

I understand many people don't like them and you need to read them to see what you are getting. I understand that many are "service contracts" and the types are exclusion or inclusion regarding what is covered. I hope to not spark any arguments.

I just want to know what the qualifications are to be able to get an extended warranty if the RV is not new. What if it is through a private seller?

That would be up to the 'Warranty Company'

You would have to contact them and inquire

Personally.......
Buying USED -----have an RV Inspection done prior to any monies being exchanged

You need to contact the warranty company directly to get those answers.

Usually, units up to 12-13 years old will qualify for a service contract. Get a sample contract and read it 2x ......and then look at the last paragraph on the last page to see who is the underlying insurance company or bank who issued the contract. Check their ratings with the usual ratings shills and then check with Weiss Ratings.

It depends on what type of RV you are getting. If it has a motor and transmission I would invest in a warranty on a used one. Try calling Wholesale Warranty, give them the make model and year and they will give you a quote.

Generally speaking, the warranty company (insurer) will require a professional inspection before issuing a policy on any used vehicle, whether from a dealer or private. The company provides the inspection checklist and a professional RV tech or RV inspector does the legwork and submits the inspection report. The details of arranging for this depends on the company writing the policy.

And when you make a claim, you will be told: 'It didn't break, it wore out. No coverage'! Keep your Coin in your pocket.

Some policies have a "wear and tear" provision and a "consequential damage" provision. Not all....read carefully before signing up.

That's the bottom line!
Mntnroamer, they are all extended service contracts; the only extended warranty available is from the mfgr directly.

There is no true "Extended Warranty".
It's a Service Contract. Even the one from the manufacturer.

The Warranty is free and part of the vehicle sale to the first new vehicle purchaser. Everything else is a Service Contract no matter what they call it for marketing purposes.
