If you get a blow out while on the road, how do they replace your tire? Do they bring one to sight and change it right there, placing the new tire on your old rim? What if I carry a spare tire, will they replace that one on the spot to my old rim?
This should be a new thread.

My plan is to buy two new tires without rims to carry in the basement of my rig to have on hand during the 4,000+ trip to Alaska.

So with those on hand, in the event of a blowout, I just call GS and they will come out to mount the new tire on the old rim?

That is the plan. However, since going to Alaska, I think I would call them to make sure on the route you are taking that all their participating companies have that ability. It could be they will bring a new tire and rim. No experience, just saying better to be safe than sorry.
