Family broke down need help!

I met a family from the state of Oregon today. Their rig is broke down, and they are parked next to a wall mart. Their are 3 adults, and 2 small children. The brakes failed on the mh, so they had to spend thr remainder of their funds on brake repair work. The throttle cable broke, so the wife was pulling the remainder of the cable by hand while the husband steered the rv. They need a cable the running gear is John deer. I think the year is 1986. The Sr. No.01303 G-31-TK. Mod LSG-875V-6001-HW. 460 ford engine. I drove all the salvages today with no success. Posting a pic of the cable. By chance someone would have one of these. I know this is a long shot, but thought I would give it a try.

what about a universal throttle cable... from car/trucks of the same age...

or an easy adapt from a wrecked truck..

it is just a cable.

That picture looks like the old Ford F600 or L600 cable.

Did they check with a Ford truck dealer ?

It really wouldn't take much to put a new center wire in that. A bike or motorcycle shop could help.

Check phone book for industrial or farm equipment supplies.

It is just a flexible actuator type cable and the center wire part is a servicable unit meaning it should be available over the counter in a length that is either by foot or chunk that you cut to fit.

NAPA,Autozone,Advance all may have something that would work. Use 1985/86 E350 van for the application.

Take it to, or take the measurements to a local NAPA or O'Reilly Auto parts. A universal will get them by and probably available same day.

If they have trouble with it, pm me with the measurements. I'll find them a part number
Good luck and God Bless!

The problem is the old cable housing has broke into and missing the end that attaches to the foot feed. I agree, the universal cable is going to be their only option. The problem using the universal cable, the cable has no clamps, or maybe it does. I'll check it out. Thanks for all the help. We live in a small town, so availability is limited as to salvage parts. Thanks for all the replies.

We were out of town for the last few days. I am going to check on the broke down rv tomorrow. I have checked NAPA, O-Rilies- auto zone-our local salvages-our only rv store-the local junk-iron salvage, and the local JD store. Struck out on every one of these! No one has a 7-8ft. Cable.

They don't have them or can't order it? Quite a difference. Usually NAPA can get almost everything by the next day.

We've been out of town for a few days. I checked on the family that was broke down at wall mart, and they are gone! I would like to delete this thread, but don't see anyway of doing it.
