Got the Senior Pass in '10 at the Everglades NP on our first run with the MH...actually bought one for the DW as well - cheap! So far, we've visited 38 National Parks...not a bad value for $20 bucks.

Ken, which cg is it? Full hookups for $12?! That's a great deal. We wil be FT next year and are looking to save $ wherever we can on our travels around the country.

Mel, here is the link for the CG. If you need any additional help let me know. We camp at Methodist Cove, haven't to any other the site in the area so I'm not sure what they are like. Really a nice place. The site I show in my post #20 is site #101.

That pass is good for more than discount camping.. We got our first pass (In my Deceased Wife's name) when we visited the Grand Canyon national park.. IT gets you a nice 100% discount on park admission..That is right 100% Flash the pass and get waved in no additional charge.. Admission without the pass is something like 20 bucks per car load.

My normal camping profile (not this year I fear) i arrive in SC long about October Stay in one of two parks,, one is Membership (45/month 2weeks in one out) the other is county (15/night now,was 12) when the county park goes up to like 30/night I switch to COE parks..Using the Senior pass it is 11/night When Wife crashed I was old enough to get my own pass 2 days later.

Mel, I thought the link I attached showed the COE campground (ref. my post #42 too). This campground is Methodist Cove, Harlan County, Nebraska. It is just inside the state line of Kansas-Nebraska. The lake stretches from Alma, NE to Republican City, NE. Love to have to come and enjoy the lake, people, etc.

The only problem with using the pass for camping at places like Zion is they fill up far ahead of the busy season. we were hoping to stay at Watchman this summer but as soon as booking became available it was full. I wonder how many people reserve and then don't show up

Interesting question, I stayed at Ortona Lock COE campground, last November. Although the site was booked full, online, I noticed 4 empty sites, that were never occupied, during that week.

If you can re-work your plans for after Aug 20 there are plenty of sites available at Zion.

Summer is family vacation time. If you're flexible, fall and spring are ideal. Even winter is gorgeous at Zion.

I have had the same problem with Dead Horse Point SP. We were at Zion in April and I made reservations a couple months ahead. Seems like I had a decent choice of available sites.

We pulled in there without reservations Thanksgiving week last year and got a nice spot right on the river, just east of the lock.
