I realize I'm late to the party but, I wanted to share something that has saved me many disasters! I use electronic check lists when operating the Coach. The Essex is a very complex machine and there are simply too many opportunities to become distracted and forget something... Having said that, the ONE CRITICAL checklist call item is the "Last Chance Walk Around"!! The Essex has warning horns and lights for everything.... BUT, any warning/indicating system can fail! The "Last Chance Walk Around" is my physically ensuring the jacks are up, the antenna is down, the bay doors are closed, the toad is configured and I haven't left anything on the picnic table! The Last Chance" is performed after engine start and just prior to departure! Has never failed me!!

I kid you not. The VERY same thing happened to me yesterday. Got in too big of a hurry to get it out of approaching storm. The whole reason I had it in the driveway in the first place was to FIX THE ANTENNA connection!!!

The replacement is already on order.

A departure checklist helps prevent this and many other "oops'. As I am older and we don't RV real often it is easy to forget things. Same reason pilots use checklists. Use them faithfully, don't skim over the items and they provide safety and peace-of-mind. We also use packing checklists, TOAD CL, leave home secure CL, etc. Our Thor Pallazo w/ freightliner chassis even has a customizable checklist built into the dash information system.
