Thumbs up Finally joining the "Retired but unexpired" crowd!

I've had it with the rat race here in State government, the back-stabbing and general meaness. The "Powers That Be" are on the warpath again to downsize, so they are looking to fire folks for very little reason. As I work with old legacy systems that are being transferred off the mainframe, I knew this day was looming. I am on 'the short list'.....

So I put in my retirement papers, and as of June 30, 4:30 PM, I will be unemployed and retired. I am looking forwards to it, and will have time to get some personal things taken care of. Foremost on that list will be getting underway seriously on my van camper conversion.

I am sure those first few mornings of waking up at 0500, then realizing I can 'sleep in', will take a little getting used to. Bring it on!

Dodge 2005 Grand Caravan - minicamper at times.
Ford 1988 E150 Action Conversion Van - camper conversion in progress.
Kawasaki 2005 KLR-650 - excursion vehicle.

Thumbs up Lee

Sounds like your going to start reversing the aging process now.

Have a great retirement and if you have time post some photos of your van makeover.

DW and I both got out the same day when our company offered buy-outs. At 52 and 53 it worried me thinking "do we have enough, will we be OK?" Well that will be four years ago this fall and we haven't missed it or even looked back.

I woke up this morning at 5a.m. Stayed up about twenty minutes and thought the heck with it and went back to bed for a couple of hours You will love it!

Congrats!!!! If you are like the rest of us, you will wonder how I ever had time to get any thing done, while working! Most days, I have more on my plate then I have time to complete. It is fun though, so enjoy!

I had a button years ago that read "I've quit the rat race, the rats won".

May you enjoy many stress free years of a happy retirement.

Retirement is good! I also was "bought out", and thought the world would come to a end. But you know what, it's the best thing that could have ever happened to us!

It took me 5 minutes to get into being retired - that was how long it took to get out of the building and into the car. It has been great ever since. Have fun, do what you want, when you want and forget the rest. good luck
