Sometimes it is difficult. My recommendation, locate a large or competent Rv sales and service center. Speak with management to locate a certified RIVA tech. Hopefully they might have a master tech on property. These guys or girls usually will inspect after hours on their own time or day off. The other option is make arrangements to bring the coach in to the service center for inspection. Usually works out money vs. Hourly rate the same. $400.00 to $700.00. Also have the engine oil analyzed. This is a very inexpensive procedure.

When I recently sold my 2007 Country Coach the new owners lender, Capital One, sent an inspector to look t the coach. Most national banks have access to so called RV inspectors all across the US. They are all independent contractors. I was ready for him and I had all the records ready. The entire inspection took about 15 minutes.I was ready for him to drive the coach, check out all the slides, generator, all the systems. etc. A diesel coach is a very complex piece of equipment

He walked around checked the tires, made sure the VIN number matched his paper work, ran the engine for a minute or two, took out some paperwork got on his computer to send some info and then said thanks. As he was leaving he said very nice motorhome.

Also do not depend on Car Fax or any other such company to give you a complete history. Thereis no such thing.

Your best route is to hire an independent inspector. I agree 100% with the response made above by Clayobx. Several hundred dollars spent at the beginning will be well spent. You may even be able to make an arrangement with the seller to take care of the cost.

Deciding on an inspector and finding the right one can take several days or longer. Do your homework.Check them out and talk by phone.Get a complete list of their inspection process along with references. As far as finding one..... Google is your friend

PS There is a good chance the 2004 Newmar you are looking at has its second set of tires. Have your inspector check the date stamped on the tire. Mileage may be low but tires should be looked at very careful for sidewall cracking. There are many factors that come into play like how it was stored when not in use. Just remember this can be an $3000.00 item. You can most likely find much info on this subject on this site.

Good luck
Dick

RV Dealers, local campgrounds, Craigslist, Google search, etc. When I bought my coach at a distance from me I found a local to where the coach RV service center to inspect the house systems and a mechanic shop to check the chassis/engine/brakes/etc. Up front we negotiated price contingent upon satisfactory inspections. After their inspections the seller made some fixes and other items we adjusted price. Then I traveled to to coach and made my final acceptance inspection and finalized the transaction and brought the coach home. Took several calls and some effort, but doing your due diligence is the right thing to do.
