Flashers/turn signals

Let me explain this weird one. when I turn on the right or left turn signal the 4 way flashers operate like I have the emergency flasher activated. Additionally, when I use the flashers only they all work as they are supposed to. Spartan was not much help on their tech support. All they can do is read schematics & know little about what or where anything is located. I had already checked fuses, switched relays around. Bought a new flasher switch from NAPA and all it did was buzz. Yes, you can hear the flasher unit working in the step well when either the turn signal or flashers are activated. No bulbs are out.


Is there another relay on the 03 American Eagle other than what is in the step well? Maybe under the dash. I can't see one. But with all those jammed up wiring harnesses under there that doesn't mean there isn't one.


Any help or ideas will be appreciated

I had that problem once and spent a lot of time and money on it. Turned out to be a bad ground. Does not seem logical, but check it out.

Bad ground, shorted bulb or do you have one of those bulb combiners for vehicles with seperate signals that goes to your hitch plug? That can be shorted and back feeding

I would consider replacing the turn signal switch assembly in the steering column. If the nylon components break down then it can cause shorting of the turn signals. I had to do this on my coach which is on a Gillig chassis. It was an easy job with a basic steering wheel puller tool you can buy from probably any auto parts store.
