Flojet macerator not pumping

I have a flojet macerator pump and I have been using it for several years. I hooked it up to the waste and attached garden hose but I runs but does not pump. I disconnected to diagnose and notice that there was a build up a preasure. I disconnected completely and poured water into the pump and used the bottom screw to manually turn the pump and it seems to work. I hook it up to electric and it does not remove the water out of the pump housing. Any thoughts?

When was last time you disassembled and cleaned the impeller of hair/gunk?
When was last time you disassembled it?

Could be 'clogged'....could be bad impeller.
Until you disassemble...just guessing

Hi! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I've never used a macerator pump so can't really help with that. Just noticed that you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

There might be, ought to be, a cap in the motor end, which when removed, presents the end of the motor shaft. And it should have a slot in that shaft which can use a flat bladed screwdriver to break the motor and pump free and spin it over. Then, if it hasn't popped its fuse, you might hope for it to run.

Sorry, should have read closer, you've done this. There is an impeller, not sure if it's rubber or plastic. If it runs but won't pump, you're going to have to take it apart and inspect.

Is there a backup or clog in the pipe going to the black tank? I had mine apart and while I did, i gently ran a snake down the black pipe and it now runs much more effectively.

These Flojet macerators are pretty easy to service. A couple nuts outside and one inside that holds the cutter (use care removing that nut as to not strip the threads). That cutter, if it gets loose, will not chop and pump and is easily replaceable as is the entire pump end. Also insid is a flexible neoprene pump element (similar to an outboard motor cooling water pump). After a few years this too can break up. It's easily replaceable too though like all of the parts on these pumps, not easily found by an internet search. Then there is that embarrassment that I had last year - the power was hooked up backwards. One seller I cannot recommend for parts is Kleen-rite. They charged me way too much shipping for the 1 pound pump housing then wanted to charge me the same amount again for the back ordered 1 oz cutter. The two blade and 4 blade cutters are 100% interchangeable.

If you have lost the parts list, it's here on this English website - the p/ns are the same:https://www.jabscoshop.com/flojet-sp...ump-12v-dc.htm. You can also find parts at most marine supply stores as well as long as you have your Flo-Jet pump number

I had the same issue with mine after it sat a few months.....I squirted some wd 40 in to the blade and discharge area, turned the shaft with a screwdriver, let it sit a couple hours.

Pumped like new after that! I suppose you could take it apart and do the same thing. The impeller blades are probably stiff and gunked up.

There is a service kit for them, that has a new rubber impeller and gasket. The chopping blade is metal and the pump blade is rubber. It can get a "set" and no longer pump.

macerator pump

Well, I want to thank everybody for your response.

And the answer is the pump was running backwards. I had just hardwired it to the coach where my 12v light is located. I had it wired black to black and orange to white. I ran the pump without the top housing for a second and you can see it was running backwards. I switched the wires around and that was the ticket. A couple of tips, I never put it in the case wet and I spray some WD40 on the blades. Thanks again.
