Relatives traveled west yesterday (Friday) on Hwy 60 from Vero Beach to Wauchula. The LB were so bad, the front of their car was solid black. They couldn't see the car at all.

Leaving PA before 9/15 (avoid stink bugs) and deciding alternatives to FL at that time (avoid love bugs) is easy!
Any guesses?

If I was going to choose an alternative to Fla until the love bugs go away, I would stop in the mountains of Tennessee or visit North Carolina. Those LB things are also in South Georgia and South Ala right now. Not sure about SC. I would stay away until the 1st of Oct at least. We hit patches of dense love bugs especially around I-10. Had to pull over once to clean the windshield so I could see.

Great!!! We will be in Florida by next weekend 9/20/15.
What's the best thing for cleaning off all their gooey goodness?

Get them off quick believe me! They will stick like glue. When I arrive at our stop for the night I pull out my trusty bucket and bounce dryer sheets. Soak front end with water, wash off the big stuff then get the dryer sheet really wet and wipe all the stuck on stuff. Dont rub hard, just let dryer sheet soap soak a little on the front. They will come right off doing that. Since front end good. Before we leave the next day I will spray the front end with 303 protectant. That really helps.
