I do not have a gas rig for that very reason almost impossible to find Gas Islands that will accommodate your rig.

Now with that being said there is a book called the RVer’s Friend that is published every year. This list by state in the US and Canadian locations of service stations that cater to RV’s both gas and diesel fuel. We used this and another book called the Next Exit for our needs on the road when towing our 5er. We have never had any issues when towing and following the advice of either book.

They do in the RV Islands and in over 15 plus years with a MH pulling a toad. I have never been in any Flying J/Pilot RV Island that was difficult to get in and out of.

You have been fortunate. I've seen more than a few PFJ's where the RV island merges you right into the traffic at the main gas pumps, and I've seen inconsiderate drivers (RVs and cars) block access/exit, or RVs that sit for long periods at the RV pumps while they do business inside or ??? It depends heavily on the layout of the station and how much other traffic there may be. Stations along the East Coast are typically more congested than Mid and Western locations, perhaps because space is at a premium and traffic much greater.

In any case, I don't think you can generalize much by national brand name. Just be prepared to drive on if the pump situation doesn't look promising for easy entrance and egress. It ain't worth the hassle and risk of damage to try to use a crowded station - regardless of the price. Why get your blood pressure up or risk damage to your rig to save a couple dollars? Gas rigs rarely fill more than about 50 gallons anyway, so a nickle/gallon savings isn't big bucks.

Truck pumps always, unless I get in a bind and have to use a regular service station...not very often....never had a problem with the truck pumps. Preference is for Love's. For the most part, their stations are newer and cleaner. They also almost always have a separate truck cashier. Cash price always seems to be same or lower than P/FJ and especially TA. JME

As above, all you need is a free Pilot/Flying J Plus card and you can pay at the pump. It is not a credit card per se, they just bill you at the end of the month for any purchases. Have used it for about two years so far and no problems.

You can get the Truck lane pumps working with the Pilot/Flying J Plus card.
But at almost all you still have to go inside to get a receipt after pumping.
I do admit it has been a few years since I have used the Truck pumps. So maybe they have started to install pumps that give a receipt. And I don't know it.

I have one of those Pilot/Flying J Plus card that gives me 8¢ discount. But haven't used it for a couple years now.
At the RV Islands I swipe my Good Sam 3¢ card then use either my 3% Visa or 5% Discovery cards for a total of 14 to 21¢(last summer) and when finished get a receipt at the pump.

Most of the pumps in truck lanes are providing receipts these days but some don't, depends on the age of the pump. But in any event I don't have to go inside to get a receipt because unfortunately I don't have anyone reimbursing me for my fuel But if you do need one for some reason then yes, occasionally they might not be available at the pump in truck lanes.

If you have the PFJ (Good Sam) charge card, you get a electronic invoice each month showing the purchase details and they debit your checking account for the total. No need to ever go inside. Discount is 6 cents/gal off the cash price, which itself is typically about 6 cents below the diesel credit price at the truck pumps. The price at the car/RV pumps is usually the same whether cash or credit, though.

I use "Gas Buddy" and then I use my Federal Credit Card (Pen Fed) and get an additional 5% off of the price per gallon. The bill is automatically paid at the end of the month. Yes it is true I like the lowest cost per gallon of diesel, and Flying J and Loves don't have it even with my Life Time Good Sam Membership discount. Sanford PS I have a Mini that goes where it's towed.

Same experience as Gary. Use the truck lanes or RV diesel pumps never go inside. It's fast and in the two and a half years of use their accounting is accurate and electronic billing and payment effortless. Well worth the application time which is minuscule.

Flying J and Pilot are easy (especially with their cards) and you can use any pump. Love's is a PITA...I always avoid them.

I should have clarified that we have a gas motorhome. We will look into the books RVer’s Friend and Next Exit. I have put the Mypliot on my phone and use Gas Buddy now. The best advice I see is just making sure you have lots of room to maneuver. Thanks to all the replied
