Flying J Swipe & Save

Ok folks, just a silly question. I recently received and have used my Flying J Swipe & Save discount card from Good Sam. My question is that on my iPhone app under "My Rewards" it shows reward and below is gallons and swipes, to the right is Balance #of gallons and swipes, then redeemed. Can anybody explain what all this means. I love the discount.

Loving the full time life.

Brandi

There was a post a while back saying Flying J was discontinuing their RV Rewards card at the the end of this year to be replaced by a Good Sam discount. I am assuming the Swipe & Save card is being sent out to all Good Sam members. Read about Swipe & Save here.

As for the rewards, FJ has rewards for their Frequent Fueler and My Rewards cards. From what I see, it looks the points are used for restaurant and store purchases. The Swipe & Save card doesn't say anything about rewards, so what is showing up on the phone app is probably for those other cards.

Pilot and Flying J are about the highest priced for fuel on the road. Last time I fueled there, they told me my card was no good and needed a Good Sam membership. I don't like to be forced to join anything for fuel savings. Was a GS member years ago but, no more. Get a Maverick card. Don't need to be a member of anything but the human race and they are a lot cheaper.

I won't join Good Sams again either. If I lose a discount, "Oh well".

Pilot and Flying J's are sometimes the most expensive stations around. Sometimes not. The one I fueled at today was about 20 cents a gallon less than many in the area. With the discount it was the cheapest.

I check the ones at the exits and shop based on price and access. With my mileage, driving miles down the road to a station in which I might not be able fit doesn't make sense.

If you have an iPhone, Gas Buddy is helpful to see what local prices are doing.

I've read various posts recently saying that Flying J/Pilot is more expensive, cards don't work, etc. We've been on the road since June 6 traveling from VA to Oregon and now heading back east (in MO now). We have gotten most of our fuel from either Pilot or Flying J using the Pilot/Good Sam RV Plus card. I also have Gas Buddy on my smart phone. We have never had a problem using the card at any station, the price rivaled most of what we were seeing on Gas Buddy, and was always less than Love's. We did fuel a couple of times at other places but had to go inside, leave them our credit card, fuel up, go back inside and sign the ticket. It is just so convenient to swipe, fuel and go at Pilots or J's. Plus they always have buckets with long handled scrubbers for the windshield and the others did not. We got a meal at an Arby's in one of the J's and $12 worth of food was only $.78 due to our credits from using the card.

Thanks for the link Paz, but I have already been there. I'm happy with the gas savings. Did 3 states, South Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho, and fJ was cheaper and then more so with the $.03 per gal discount.

Having completed 8 western states, he only place I have found cheaper than FJ, was Costco. My question was about the rewards, not whether anyone thought FJ was cheaper or not. For those that tried to answer the question, thanks.

Good sam membership

We received a Good Sam membership when we purchased our motorhome at Camping World last April. We have not received a membership card and it has been 4 months. We have all but given up on any use of the membership. It is a good thing we have AAA plus RV. We have used them in the past with our motorcycle and we are very pleased with the roadside assistance.

I feel your pain Brandi.

Come on people, help her out. She does not care about your membership or price of gas. There are thousands of other posts on gas prices. Please go back and read post #1. I want to know too.
