I'm not aware that they boosted the diesel discount to $.03/gallon...
not enough for me to come back though. I've found that FJ's prices are higher than stations around theirs.

20 cents a gallon above competitors prices but 3 cents back (17 cents overcharge for not shopping them).
Kinda hate passing up deals like that.
Don't think you will find any Flying J 20¢ a gal higher then any competitors in the same exit or within 1 or 2 exits either way from them.

Granted they use to be 1-2¢ lower then others. But now usually the same price. Before the 3¢ discount.

Go ahead and do a search from the above link. Please report back here all those 20¢ higher locations.
Or any stations in the same area that are over 3¢ less then Flying J.

I like filling up at the best price. I havnt filled up at a Flying J for over 6 months I think. I wish they were more competitive with their fuel prices like previous times.

I guess they sell plenty of diesel w/o the business from frugal rv ers.

A good idea would be to make dumping free with the card and X gallons of fuel purchased.

Just go on MSN Auto, fuel prices and check it out for yourself. I just returned from a 7,500 mile trip and was being kind to FJ when I said 20 cents differance. Why on earth would anyone pay more than they have to for a product unless there was a terrific value added. Fuel is Fuel. If you can only get your MH into the truck lanes then paying more for your fuel is worth it.

This is not a bad site when looking for truck stops and fuel deals.

Find The Cheapest Truck Stop - TruckMaster Fuel Finder

Does anyone use this?

I had a similar problem when I tried to access the site using Firefox. Tried it with IE and it worked.

Yeah, I'd say the writing on the wall is pretty clear. They are giving lip service to the RV crowd, but aren't really courting the business.

We fuelled and dumped in S.C. at Fj and they charged us just $5.00 for the dumping. We travel over 3,000 miles in 5 days or so and there are not many places that are for free. We are thankful Fj has this for us because the lighter the load the less fuel is used. Fjs has been great stops for us along I95 South from Canada....

If someone has a service when I need it and it's convenient and reasonable (sometimes not even reasonable) I use it.

Welcome to iRV2. Your first post is quite bold. The Pilot/J company is getting back to where the program was before Pilot purchased the J. The program is not the same. For me, if they deliver what they have promised, I'll be a loyal customer. For RVers, highlights of the loyalty plan are (from the Pilot/J web site):
  • Instant fuel discounts at the pump on diesel, gas, and propane
    • $0.03 off diesel (currently available at RV and auto diesel lanes only)- COMING SOON TO TRUCK DIESEL LANES
    • $0.02 off gas
    • $0.10 off propane
  • $5 off dumping fees
  • Register your card to earn special members-only offers
    • Unlimited fuel discounts (no max gallons)
    • Pump Start
    • Members-only benefits such as the Coffee Club, buy 5 hot beverages and the 6th is on us!
If this does not present a value to you, please feel free to go elsewhere. This will make the line shorter for those of us who find the Pilot/J a value.

Gary;

You are so correct. We are sticking with the "J"/Pilot. My service there has been great, and over the years we have seen much abuse to thier facilities by some real ditzo Rv'ers. My guess is it is the same group that is now crying foul over the $ 5.00 dump fee. It is a shame that our Rv'ing community cannot understand and respect the pressures companies are under on the environmental front.

Holey Moley, that is a lot of stuff to look at. I bookmarked it to look at when I get bored. I'll give it a try when I get it all figured out.

Just start by putting in origin (city and state) and destination (city and state) click Find Stops...try it.

I did and never found any 20¢ difference in the area at the many FJ that I have bought at on my many trips.
And the link in my post was for MSN. Guess you didn't know that.

I'm still waiting on you to give the zip on MSN where the nearby stations to FJ are 20¢ lower a gal. That you found on your trip.

You would be helping the other users on this forum to know where you found those cheaper fuel stops.

Telling them to check it out their self when you already know.
Does not help much.

In my area (34470) the local stations are pricing their "auto diesel" 10-15 cents lower than the truck stops. Conversely, the truck stops are selling gasoline several cents lower than most of the local gas stations.

The truck stops are close to one another, no doubt for competitive reasosn, but they don't have to compete with smaller stations because the big trucks don't go there anyway.
