FMCA Didn't this used to be free?

FMCA Announces the New FMCAssist Program

FMCA has teamed with
Seven Corners to coordinate the FMCAssist travel assistance and medical evacuation program.

Under this program, which is effective Oct. 1, 2012, a host of travel and medical care services will be available to all FMCA members — Family, Commercial and Associate.

All FMCA members may use Seven Corners for 24-hour assist services as needed, with the member being directly responsible for all expenses incurred.

For enhanced coverage, members may sign up and pay the associated premium for the Voluntary Member Participation Plan, which pays for covered expenses up to certain maximums. The annual premium for the voluntary plan is $85 for one person, and $105 for a family.

It was included in our dues/membership. I imagine it got just too expensive. I wonder what the cost would be if every member was assessed the proportional cost of this coverage? (Does that sentence make sense?)

WHAT? All members can also paint their rigs orange if the member is directly responsible for all expenses incurred!!!

Just say it as it is....FMCA no longer provides emergency air evacuation as a part of membership.

According to our clubs FMCA rep, it was either raise the dues significantly or have the members purchase coverage on their own.

That coverage was one of the main considerations in being a member! But we also understand that in order to survive some cost cutting measures must be made. Our membership is up for renewal next month and I hesitated a few days before telling my wife to send it in.
Still worth it to us.

I'll probably renew also when the time comes. Everything is going up except my retirement check.

My understanding was that the vote happened at the Indianapolis rally. Two options were offered: raise everyone's dues $10 or charge extra for the assist program - a lot. They chose to charge extra. I can't see this helping income as I think that assist program was one of the benefits that made FMCA membership stand out. A $10 dues increase for all makes a lot more sense to me.

I think they made the right choice. Let the ones that use / want a particular service pay for it.

I completely agree. Although I hoped to never need this service, I considered it the highlight of my membership. Bad move FMCA.

. Yep, exactly how I feel. Not sure I can come up with another good reason to remain a member...

Ditto. We have only been members for a few months, but this was one "perk" that we thought made it worth the dues. We likely will not renew, since we have not used the membership for anything other than a plaque to display.

One of the main reasions we joined was the med assist program. It is one of those things you hope to never use, but it is an option in an emergency. Last week they sent me an e mail announcing the program, and I sent a reply that when our membership expires it will not be renewed.

Tough times reach all area's of life. A lot of memberships are being dropped and not just in the RV industry. The money just isn't there anymore to maintain those memberships where the 'return' isn't there anymore.

Some of the 'freebie forums' could soon disappear also....
They exist only as long as the companies supporting them are healthy. When the Gov gets ALL THE MONEY redistributed, there won't be any left for 'the extras'.

Just sayin'
