Forest service came by yesterday to report to us that the culprits had been found and arrested on DUI charges, County sheriff had made the stop and noticed there was a bulliten out by the forest service. So the driver faces DUI charges and each of the three with him face fines of up to $7000 each for the campfire and trash they left behind. Score one for the good guys.

People just don't understand that they brought the trash in, they can carry it out. They are lazy and ignorant and expect that someone else can clean the mess for them. It seems that they seldom go to the same spot twice....why should they, that last one was such a mess.

I take the time to report trashy people and rule breakers. I would encourage everyone else to take the time as well.

I got one for you"
I was up at MT hood a few summers ago at a FS campground named lake Terrilam ( not sure about that spelling) campers next to me drunk and roudy, trash everywhere campfire blazing when they left; I complained to the ranger about the mess; Beleave this folkes it's true; his answer to me was that this was a party campground and what these jerks did was ok, he just sent a crew around to clean up the mess. He seemed up set that I filed a complant.
PS. I never went back there again.

That's a lazy ranger. Unfortunately there are a few bad apples in law enforcement. If you feel that you aren't getting the customer service you deserve, ask for a supervisor, just like you would at a private business. You pay for services and deserve better than what you received.

Not all rangers are law enforcement rangers, there are different positions. Most of the non-LE types will avoid confrontationat all costs.
