Forwarding Mail

We will be camping in AZ for three months this winter, I have secured a part time job at a state park office in exchange for the campsite. We will have our home mail forwarded to family, they will sort and forward to us once a month. Should we have them send the mail to a local post office general delivery? We have very common names, don't want someone else picking up our mail. Would I be out of line asking the state park if I can have it sent to the park office once a month????? How do most people handle their mail? I have most bills sent to me by email, but there will some mail we will need to have.

You would not be out of line asking the state park if you can have your mail sent there as you'll be working there.

General delivery is not a problem as ID is required. Well, some or most times. I never had a problem with general delivery.

We have been resident RV volunteers at many different state & national parks as well as several other agencies over the past 12 years. The vast majority of parks that use volunteers also have a provision for the volunteer to receive their mail. In 36 tours as RV volunteers, only two times have we not been able to have our mail sent to the park or wildlife refuge office.

By all means, do ask as they probably expect it to come there. It is very common for volunteers to have a box for mail, just as the paid staff do.

Certainly ask if you can have it delivered to the park, but general delivery at the post office also works well. Note that UPS and FedEx will not deliver to the post office, so if your family ships UPS or if you order something on line, the post office is not an option.

We send a USPS flat rate box to my parents about once per month and use either the campground address or general delivery.
