Fuel Filter Question

We have a 1990 Allegro with a Chevrolet 454 engine. The fuel filter needs replacing. We have been to our dealer who sent us to a Chevy dealer who sent us to a parts store. Nobody has one that will fit or knows where to order it from. Could anybody suggest where we can get one?

Can you take the old one out and carry it into a real auto parts store such as NAPA or Carquest? They should be able to match it up to one in their spec books. If they can't, ask them to call their filter supplier, who usually has application data going back forever. Most NAPA store clerks are willing to make this level of effort to get what you need.

Where is the filter located, & what does it look like. I would think that it is a round 3" x 5" AC Delco filter. If you can not locate one, go to a truck specialist store & purchase a generic spin on type filter mounted system. You could even get one with a water separator, to prevent water problems. This would be easier in the long run!

Good Luck!
