If you had a little gasser, it would have only been a $50 highway impact fee ..........

You are forgetting to but this "huge" fee in perspective. You paid 6%-7% of your purchase price as a one time fee, so the annual renewal of $70 for me, $120 for you, is chump change in the total fees you really pay to have a MH in GA.

Is this something new, or only applies to large MH's? I renewed mine in July and only paid the $20. Maybe because of the age.

Yea you get hit up front now for the ad valorem tax instead of decreasing payment every year at yearly renewal.

Consider yourself lucky, my mh in Nv i paid 6.785 % sales tax and the annual registration fee was over $4k. The only saving grace is trading in the previous mh i get a sales tax credit for the trade amount.

I just bought the annual tags for our coach which is plated here in Michigan. $986 base fee plus $10 for the "Recreation Passport" (prepaid vehicle entry into State Parks) and a $5 fee for paying with a credit card at the kiosk. (Many Michigan Secretary of State offices have a 24 hour kiosk thru which you can purchase your annual vehicle tags and bypass the headaches associated with long lines and limited office hours). Total cost $1,001 for the year. I'd be happy with the $120 that it cost you!!!!

Just because the fee is palatable doesn't make the theft any better.

I wear "big boy pants" ... which means that I recognize and accept that taxes and fees are part of life in the adult world. The roads we drive on, the police and fire services that respond to the accidents we have along the way have to get paid for somehow. YMMV.
