Garmin GPS Programing
I have a Garmin GPS installed in the entertainment center of my tow vehicle. When purchased and installed as an upgrade of the radio, I was of the understanding that it had lifetime upgrades. I have tried several times to carry out the upgrade online with no success. How can I contact Garmin by phone to carry out the upgrade or at least get further information. I have had no success getting a telephone number so I can speak to them one on one. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the connector cable that came with the unit?

I got educated on cables, having a few different models of the Garmin, the latest requires the new mini USB with the mini connector, not the normal charger port, but a small port, Getting old is challenging but fun & educational.

Which model of Garmin do you have? I Have two Nuvi s, one with Lifetime maps. I downloaded and installed Garmin Express on the home laptop and simply connect either Nuvi and it will tell me it's status, any upgrades it needs and other information that I need to know.
If you haven't contacted Garmin yet, might try using the Express function, if you haven't tried it yet....

If your GPS is in your vehicle and was installed by the manufacturer of the vehicle, you should be talking to them. There is also likely information in your owner's documentation that covers updates. It is likely you have to purchase updates thru the channel specified by the vehicle manufacturer. If that is the case, it is unlikely that Garmin can help you.
Good luck and hope you have lifetime updates,
