Gas and Diesel at the same price!

Went by a BP station on Rt. 31 in Washington, NJ today and saw that gas and diesel were selling for the same price - $2.49 a gallon!

10 years ago, diesel always was cheaper than gas and this is the first time I've seen them at the same price since then.

Are they the same price anywhere else? Is diesel cheaper than gas anywhere?

Ten years ago the refiners did not have to remove as much sulfur from diesel. Paid $3.19/gal in Reno, Nv. Then $3.19/gal in Klamath Falls, Or. It is $3.09/gal in Garibaldi, Or. Have not seen it lower then gasoline in a while.

Both are $2.89 here at 9 miles northwest of Page AZ on Hy 89 76 station.
Each came down 10 cents in 1 week.

San Diego and around our area - in the past we've seen diesel cheaper than gas. And again, now again it is cheaper than gas.

When we left Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, diesel was cheaper than gas. We are now in the San Diego area and diesel is less expensive.

Diesel in our area is between $0.30 and $0.10 a gallon difference. IF you buy BP/Marathon it is only a $0.10 lower. They fell their diesel fuel is gold.

Diesel is diesel has far as I am concerned as long as you can keep away from Bio-Diesel. I have 8 years of fuel data on two different diesel vehicles to back that statement up.

Yesterday, (6/11/15), in northern Illinois, diesel was cheaper than gasoline at some stations... however in southern Wisconsin diesel was higher priced than gas....BUT cheaper than in Illinois.

I had to fill up my Jeep today and regular octane gasoline was the same price as diesel at $2.49. I run high octane in my Jeep (required for a custom tune) and paid more per gallon. Wow... So then I started to think about pennies per mile...

Using today's data from my GasBuddy app, I did a little math with my local Shell station . Their credit card price for Premium unledded is currently #3.00; Diesel credit card is $2.43.

The Jeep gets about 16 MPG, so using Premium Unleaded, that's 15.2 cents per mile.
The DP gets 8.2 MPG on diesel, equating to 29.3 cents per mile.

So the Jeep costs about half as much per mile in fuel costs. That's not as bad as I assumed it to be!!

Over the weekend in the Raleigh, NC area, we had some places that were the same price for diesel and gas and some where diesel was still more expensive. Don't recall seeing any places that had diesel cheaper - at least not yet ! We have a couple of weeks before we head back out in the DP, so I'm going to wait a bit before filling her up (for the first time!) in the hopes that prices drop a bit!
